Write a poem describing how you would have felt when you arrived in New Zealand in the first waka.
If I came on the first waka to New Zealand I would have feeled scared because I have no idea what to expect. New Zealand is also surrounded by water no other country's joined with us or close to us. I would get of the waka last because the land might not be safe. Might have Ebola u know.

Hi Zain,
I, too, would have been pretty scared if I was an explorer sent to New Zealand and expected to set up a life here. It must have been pretty overwhelming for everyone on board the wakas. I feel very grateful to each and everyone of the first settlers who found the strength, fortitude and determination to build homes, clear land, find food and establish communities. Without them, I have to wonder "Where would we be?"
