Matific

Matific is a maths online game. Years 1 to 8 can participate. There is also a leaderboard so if you can find yourself or if you can find your school on the leaderboard that is really well. Today the competition started. Last week it was only the warm up. Hopefully my school can get top 10 on the leaderboard.

Food Tech: burger and fries

Today was our last day for food tech. We made burger and fries, I made it with my friend Sami. We made many mistakes and silly mistakes in our time in food tech. I will accept that me and Sami are the worst cooks ever. Our burgers were very yum.

Mr Hendriks can lift sive with his thumb?

Last week on friday the room 7 and 8 girls and the room 7 boys went out for volleyball. My class boys didn't go out because some of our rather naughty boys were throwing paper around the class. So our punishment was that we will not go out for volleyball and we will have to got to room 7. While we were in room 7 Mr Hendriks came with a big wooden plank and a heavy weight. 1 week earlier he said that he can lift Sive the biggest and tallest kid in the school just with his thumb. so he came with all his stuff that he needs and lifted sive with a liver.

Simple Machines: Pulley toy

On thursday we got a assignment to make a toy but not any toy. We could make a pulley toy or a toy with a wheel and axle. I made a pulley toy. I was suppose to make a car but i changed it on sunday 2am and I made a pulley. On one side you have to pull the string then the other side comes up.

Stuff I needed:
Hanger
Toilet roll / something with both sides opening
string
paper box or anything to pull
tape if needed

steps:
1. Cut the middle of the hanger.

2. Put both sides of the hanger in each of the sides of the toilet roll.

3. Tape the toilet roll if loose.

4. Tie the string around a object e.g like a car and from the other side you pull and there's your toy. Its boring but I tried.

Glossary and White fly trap

Today I did 4 activities and I chose this to post on my blog. I made a advertisement for Atractem - whitefly trap. You can get if for $12.99 and it is sold at your nearest bunnings warehouse. I also chose A glossary about 6 eco friendly word. It took a really long time. I made a glossary because it was a fun activity to do, I learnt new definitions of things that I did not know. I made a Atractem - White Fly trap because I love making advertisement look creative and amazing. While making the advertisement I learnt what is a attractem and information about it. Do you need a Atractem in your garden?

Today we had a maori lesson with Ms Maude. She taught us a song named E Te Ariki. This song is a himene and it is sung with harmonies and is accompanied by guitar and piano. The girls had their own part and the boys had their own part. Our part was easy but funny at the same time we had to say aue, aue it was kind of like a song in shrek.

Raksha Bandhan cultural event

Last weekend  was Raksha Bandhan and it ended yesterday. Raksha Bandhan is a Indian event that happens once a year. If you are Indian and you have a sister they have to tie this onto his hand. The brother has to give a gift to the sister. I gave my sister a nail polish set because she likes putting on makeup and nail polish. If you have any close girl cousin then they can ty it to your hand too. One of the three was tied by my sister and the other two were tied by my 2 cousins Ashleen and Ashilta. Sisters also have to feed their brothers sweets. I was really excited to get fed the sweets!!

Volleyball setup

Today we helped Mr Hendriks Lift 5 heavy logs to set up a volleyball court. Mr Hendriks needed 10 boys at first and I was one of the ten. after a few seconds carrying the log we got really tired and we were really weak so we had to get more support so Mr called in another 10 boys. I felt crazy pain on my hands because we used ropes to carry them. It was 2 people per rope.

Comparing fractions for this week

This week we used inequality signs <, > and = to compare fractions.
On Monday we used materials. At first using the symbols were really confusing because I didn’t know what symbol to use. Then our teacher taught a easier way to use the symbols the correct way. She said the crocodile's mouth always eats the bigger number / fraction. After that she taught another easy way to see which fraction is bigger she gave us fraction shapes and we put them on top of each other and saw which on is bigger.

On Tuesday we used a fraction chart. This was easy for me because I used my pointers to see which fraction was bigger. This was a easy way to see which fraction is bigger than the other.

On Wednesday  we worked without the above.  We learnt a strategy which was Making the numerator the same . If you change the numerator you have to change the denominator .The knowledge required to solve to  problems this way is to learn times table because it may be impossible using this strategy without times table.

Football skills

x

Today we went to practice football in the hall. Our instructor’s name was Steve. These are the  things we learntand i will rate myself how good i am in these skills.
Skills and rate, 1 to 5

  1. Shield the ball with your body. ☆☆☆☆
  2. Dribble the ball. ☆☆☆☆☆
  3. Take a shot with your lace, inner foot and your outer foot. ☆☆☆☆
  4. defending
  5. free kick ☆☆☆☆☆

Football compared with hockey
 and It
Football is quite different from hockey. In football you use your feet but in hockey you hold a hockey stick with your arms. In football the ball is big but in hockey the ball is tiny. So in hockey you have to control the ball with the hockey stick but in football you have to control the ball with your feet and body. Football and hockey are really different.
