A big day awaits
On Tuesday The senior side had a fun sports day. The year 8’s organised all the fun activities. The Activity I enjoyed was the dodge ball. I was all prepared for the Capture The Flag but they ran out of water balloons. I was really disappointed! I think the year 8 should get a big reward because they handled so many children. I say we should do a fun day when the year 7’s organise the activities and the year 8s can play.

Enlargement chalk art
Walt: Enlarge a picture.
My grid was 9 x 7. One square was 20cm.
We enlarged this picture outside using chalk. First we had to find a picture. My one was a sabertooth logo. Then we had to find a grid. After all this we had to go outside and draw the grid. Finally we drew the picture. My one was terrible!! My one wasn’t as accurate as some of the girls. If you had to do this what picture would you choose?

Enlargement drawing
Today we learnt to enlarge pictures. So we had to draw the same hin using this grid and we obviously had to count the squares carefully. My one was really really bad! I was easy at first then it got a bit difficult and then at the ending it got confusing. I would like to enlarge even harder drawings. What would you enlarge?

And today we made tessellations. we got into group of fives. Lorenzo made the tessellation. It was really hard to figure out where the pieces go. Have you ever made a tessellation.

descriptive writing
WALT: write a descriptive paragraph using imagery
Just as I got in the main city of Nepal I felt the ground shaking. The building started to collapse one by one, I could see wires moving continuously. Suddenly there was some blood shed. Some of the blood even trickled down in my mouth leaving a sour taste. People were screaming for their life, well I was running for my life. I felt like crying. Dogs were barking, nobody was there to help them.

How has sports made me a better person?
WALT: write an explanation
Success Criteria
- Use time relationships
- Present tense
- Use action verbs
- Correct use of conjunction
Sport has made me a better/worse person
Intro
These three values respect, excellence and friendship will make you a better person in sports. I still have to work on my excellence but in the other 2 I'm alright.
Respect
The first ever time I played Football, I learnt manners and lots of respect. I also learnt how to work as a team. I think Football is the best sport to work as a team. The rules weren't too hard, but I still asked my teammates how to play. When our team wins we don’t rub it on the other teams facing we say GG- good game. I think sports has made me a better person!
Excellence
I have shown excellence by coming to every Sports Camp training there was. I come to trainings to learn new sports so I can get selected in Sports Camp. I am commited by waking up early and turn up at 7.30am for the trainings. Sports has obviously made me a better person.
Friendship
I have shown friendship by communicating with my teammates. I show friendship by congratulating my opponents. For some of my teammates friendship is really hard for them but for me it's really easy. Friendship in sports has made my friendship in other hobbies better.
Conclusion
I told you the truth on all 3 of these values. I am really good at making friends and I am also very good at being a sports player. Being respectful is the value I am the best at.

Cook Island Language Week
Today We had visitors from the Auckland Museum. They came to speak Cook Island to us. I learnt lots of stuff like the coconut tree is the tree of life. They taught us about the vaka . At the end we had two games. I participated in making a hole on a piece of wood. Of course I failed but Havea got it on his first go. The Kiwi’s took the idea of the Cook Islanders on making the vaka. The vaka was used to make a speed boat for the U.S.A. I learnt a variety of things such as how to navigate without a compass or map. It was great fun I think you should visit the Auckland Museum because you will find lots of different canoes or Waka.

Making Muffins
A few days ago my friend Huntah and I got a opportunity to bake 25 muffins for our class.
We started before school started at 8.30am. Our ingredients were 3 cups of edmonds muffin mixture, 3 eggs, 3/4 cup of vegetable oil and 1 cup of cold water. We mixed and mixed and put the mixture into the muffin cups and put lots of chocolate sprinkles and then we took to the oven. After that Huntah and I had to wash the dishes and after a quick 15 minutes it was baked. The smell came from the oven to the corridor. We had 2 because we made it.=)
Every Day Theatre
Today we had two visitors. I couldn’t find out the names of the 2nd one but the 1st one's name was Kaitlyn. They performed a little scenery after that both of them had to pick one room and Kaitlyn picked us.
Firstly she asked us if we knew the characters, well I did but I don’t know about the others. There were only 6 characters they were named: Jack, Tee, Marea/Mum, Dave/Dad, Brian and Becca. This was all a game a drama game.
It was like a movie because Kaitlyn acted out the characters. So it was really a family story it all began when Marea was talking on the phone, suddenly Dave snatched the phone and saw she was talking to Brian. Brian was Marea’s boyfriend basically Marea was cheating on Dave. Dave gave a big punch to marea and then we lost a live. There were no physical actions like punching shoving. We had only 2 lives. Then Kaitlyn became Tee and hopped on the hotseat. We asked plenty of questions to get much information as we could. Then we had a vote who should we put on the hot seat. It came out to be Dave.
Then it was recess. Once we came back we got to it, I got in a group of 3 with Huntah and Havea. We all had to act out a sentence. I acted out Dave’s first hit. It was tough but we did a great job we made people giggle and laugh it was really fun! We only had 1 life but we got awarded another life. We had to get to 10 points but we were only at 5. Kaitlyn gave us two options the hard way or the easy way. We said the hard way.
We got in a semi circle and Kaitlyn placed the accessories on the ground in a line. She had to spin her hand and who ever she stops at that person had to give advice. She rotated her hand and it stopped at ME! I was under pressure because I had five seconds to say it but somehow I said it.
Once we did all the advices on the characters we won the game we got awarded a badge and a master's gamer card. It was great fun I enjoyed big time.

Matching Metaphors
Walt: Match metaphors with their meaning in sport and nonsport activities
Yesterday in my writing time we had to match metaphors with a group of 4. I had Tane in my group and Huntah, Havea and me at the side. We had to match each sport metaphor than we had to match a non sport metaphor. Our group got them all of them correct. The metaphors were really useful for the narrative that we did after the metaphor activity. I used “What a fast finish” in my story. I had great fun matching metaphors.

Writing: I heard a whisper but no one was there!
“Good morning scaredy cat”, said David. Oh quit it David, can’t you just forget about it. “Nope, if you want me to forget about it you first you will have to explain every single word to my best mate Natsu”, exclaimed David. Alright but after that you'll be toast by my bare hands! Hey Natsu come in, follow my lead to my room, David quickly shut the curtains and close the door so it's dark because I’m going to tell what happened yesterday but I’m warning you by the time we finish this story you'll be laughing out of your chair like a funky monkey.
Yesterday David and me went to the movies to watch the new released movie named, I heard a whisper but no one was there! David had planned to watch this movie for my birthday so I happily agreed but when I found out it was a horror movie I had difficulties getting in my car. Finally when David and me got there the movie had ended, so David was pretty disappointed in me.
Then I began to walk to the door to get out of the stupid filthy cinemas but somehow the door was locked. On the side I saw lots of buttons but there was one lever so I asked David which one should I press then he answered back the lever. As I got my skinny arms touching the lever the light had went off but without any fear I still pulled the lever. Due to David’s lack of prediction the door never opened but instead I heard a whisper coming from outside in the hallway so I made my way to the exit that goes straight to the long hallway where the hall of fame is. I started to sprint to the hallway because I couldn’t find David and the lights were off. Once I arrived I heard another loud whisper but I couldn’t see anyone.
Just when I was about to cry the lights went on again.Suddenly someone tapped my back and I screamed like a dragon with fear. Everyone in my family was watching me and the young ones were laughing. Of course it was a surprise but I wondered who came up with this idea. Hmm who could it be aha it was David’s mad idea and I still have a score to settle with him.
Ok David I told Natsu all about it know it's time that I we have a little talk (whispering to each other.) David remember what you said you will stop right. “Yeh I remember now let's get this chinese loser out of your house. Hey Natsu David said your a chinese loser. “Seriously Zain once I escape from him I'm going to tell on your mum”, howled David. In your dreams! Haha got him good this time.

Decorating our muffins
Yesterday, margaret and stephane made all of us a muffin. Mrs Ramkalawan created a competition on making a pattern n your muffin. With 2 fruit and 1 sunflower, raisins and fruit loops. I took a banana, mandarin and fruit loops. I didn't like the fruit loops at all so I had a hard time eating that. I thought I would have the best one but it was Ketura and she was awarded raisins. Next wish me good luck at the starting I may win.

Dreydon and Kate's visit
On Wednesday our class had 2 guest. names were Dreydon and Kate, Kate was the one who was the author and Dreydon did a special 80km walk for us and donated $4,600 for our school.
They had even planned to do a presentation for us. Their goal was to complete the walk within 24 hours, and their goal was S.M.A.R.T In the presentation they had taken some photos when they were walking on the great Hillary Trail. Few minutes later they asked us to share our goals and it had to be S.M.A.R.T goal. S.M.A.R.T stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timed.
I had three extremely hard goals one was, to quickly answer all the questions within 5 seconds in maths. Two was, to get fit for Sports Camp, and three was to be a famous soccer player in Real Madrid.
Dreydon Has Inspired me to don’t give up on my goal. I think Dreydon has inspired
Everyone.
It was finally their time to go, we took a class picture with them too. Today we received a special package. All of us was thinking what could it be. Then Mrs RamKalawan Opened it and found out there were pineapple lumps as a thank you gift from them.
Skip Counting In Six
Today I did skip counting in six. I used my multiplication skills to get 126882 as my score. I think I did a brilliant job.

If you don’t have a pipe in your house and it never rains outside then you should eat lettuce it has 90% of water. Did you know that every person has 65% of water in their body. Remember water is vital in life.

Ride in a ferrari
WALT:write a persuasive paragraph
I want to ride on a Ferrari because I have never been in a red shiny Ferrari. I deserve to ride in one because i do my work and listen to the teacher. I wished at night when I'm sleeping that when I grow up then I'll get a amazing LOUD! Ferrari. I want to ride in a Ferrari because I know everything I should know about a Ferrari. The person who made the Ferrari would be so rich but for some reason I think that he should make trucks for Ferrari that would be the most annoying loud sound in New Zealand!! And if I don’t get a ride on it I’ll try again next time because this is not my only opportunity.

Summary on Ngā Tātarakihi o Parihaka
Notes for the story
- Government taking over their land.
- A lot of violence.
- Taking crops
- The girls are scared and worried.
- Messengers already heading out
- Rarawa swimming
- Api planning on stopping the pakeha from taking their land
- Argument on if they should leave or not
As rarawa was kneading the dough she heard about the government taking over their village. A few days later the pakeha soldiers arrived and started taking down the defence wall and taking their crops. Then Api was planning on stopping the pakeha soldiers from taking over their land, but rarawa and Rangi got worried because they were scared that their brothers were going to get taken away just like there dad and would get chucked in prison without having a trial. As the soldiers arrived Rarawa had swung the poi in time with the other girls but fear had scared the words out of her mouth. As the soldiers marched closer their rifles glanced against the light. The soldiers carried on marching past rarawa, when aunty Maata came they just ignored her. Finally the soldiers stopped marching and somehow the parihaka convinced the soldiers to turn back and leave us alone.
Patterns
Yesterday we were learning how to find patterns and count sticks more easier. What I have written here will help you count sides on a triangle much faster.

Jump Rope for heart in GI centre
Last friday our whole school had a great walk to the GI centre. Our school had planned to do jump rope for the heart foundation. The place was well organised and there were plenty of spectators. All classrooms from room 1 to 12 were performing, every classroom had a routine in skipping. A lady was sent out to collect coins from people who wanted to donate to the heart foundation. When it came to our turn to skip it was a complete disaster. There were only 4 boys performing and all the boys were tangling on the rope. The girls one was awesome. Next year we will hopefully be better than this year.

The Strand test
Today I did a test called the strand test. I was hoping to do great but instead in my results I got a 3p. I was disappointed because my friends got a good result but not me. I had lots of weak spots in this test, I didn't know lots of the finding the area problems. Hopefully I will get a better result next term.

Basic Facts Test
Walt: Do a timed basic facts.
Yesterday I completed a timed basic fact test and I may have done a bad job. I usually get 90% or more but this time my teacher asked me to do a timed basic fact instead of taking the sheet. A sheet lets you take time to answer but on timed it gives you a time limit. I did awful if you asked. The stage is just right but I needed more time to answer some of the hard ones like the fractions and some division. I will practice more to improve so I can quickly answer all of them.
